About TemplateBox
Operating since 2026
TemplateBox is a set of free document tools that run entirely inside your web browser. There is no account to create, no trial to start, no export limit, and no watermark on anything you produce. There is also no server holding your data, because there is no server at all.
What you can make here
- Invoices with line items, automatic tax and a calculated balance due
- Rent receipts, cash payment receipts, itemized business receipts and printable sales receipt forms
- Employee warning notices with warning levels, violation categories and signature blocks
- Resumes and CVs that export as machine-readable PDFs
- Framed photo posters and print-on-demand product mockups
How the browser-only architecture works
Conventional document tools send what you type to a server, process it there, and send a file back. That architecture requires an account so the server knows whose data is whose, and it means your invoice, your tenant's address or your employee's disciplinary record sits in somebody else's database.
TemplateBox does the work on your machine instead. The editors are ordinary web pages; the document preview is rendered by JavaScript in your browser as you type; the PDF is compiled locally by a library running in the same page; and the finished file is written straight to your downloads folder. Nothing is transmitted because there is nowhere to transmit it to.
Your in-progress work is held in your browser's own local storage on your device, which is why you can close the tab and come back to an unfinished document. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain erases it permanently, and we cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.
Why it is free
The tools are funded by advertising shown on a short interstitial page between choosing a template and opening the editor. That interval is the entire business model. It is why there is no subscription, no export cap, and no watermark.
The editors themselves carry no advertising at all, and neither does the homepage. That is a deliberate decision rather than an oversight: an editor cluttered with ads while someone is drafting a disciplinary notice or a resume is a bad tool, and the trade of one short interstitial for a clean workspace is the one we would want as users.
What we can and cannot see
We cannot see any document you create. We do not receive names, addresses, amounts, employee records, resume contents, or uploaded images, and this is an architectural fact rather than a policy promise.
What we do receive is ordinary web traffic information through third-party services: hosting and DNS logs, anonymous interaction analytics used to find usability problems, and the advertising network's own measurement. The privacy policy sets out each of these in detail.
Accuracy and limitations
The guidance published on this site and in the guides section is general information. Requirements for receipts, invoices and employment records vary considerably between countries and between states or provinces, and they change. Nothing here is legal, tax or employment advice, and a consequential decision warrants professional advice specific to your jurisdiction.
The tools produce documents; they do not verify that a document meets a particular legal requirement where you are.
