What goes on an anniversary poster

The whole point of a dated keepsake is that it fixes one day. Everything on this layout exists to do that: the names say whose day it is, the heart says what the years looked like, and the calendar says exactly which square of which month it was.

Why the calendar has to be a real month

A printed calendar block is easy to fake and obvious when it is faked. The artwork this template was drawn from is a good example: it is labelled November 2025 and starts the month on a Monday, in five rows. The first of November 2025 was a Saturday, and the month needs six rows. Anyone who checks their own anniversary against it finds the date on the wrong day of the week.

So this template does not copy a grid. It calculates one. Choose a month and a year and the editor works out which weekday it opens on, how many days it has and how many rows that takes, then puts your date on the correct square. February in a leap year, a thirty-one day month that spills into a sixth row, and a date that does not exist in the month you picked are all handled.

Eighteen photographs, and which one goes in the middle

Choose all your pictures at once and they fill the heart in order. The large box in the centre is the one people look at first, and it is rarely the first photograph you happened to select, so you can move any picture into it: click the box holding it, then choose where it should go. The two trade places and each keeps its own framing.

Every box can be zoomed and dragged individually, which matters more here than on a single-photograph poster: the boxes are different shapes, and a face that sits nicely in a wide box will be cropped oddly in a narrow one.

You do not have to fill all eighteen. An empty box is drawn as part of the design rather than as a hole, so a heart made of six photographs still looks deliberate.

Dark or light, and what changes between them

The poster comes in two colourways. The dark one is the original: a near-black ground with the photographs and type in white. The light one puts the same poster on white, which suits a bright room and uses far less ink if you are printing it at home.

Only colour changes between them, never the layout, so you can switch after you have arranged everything. One detail does differ by necessity: on the dark version an empty photo box is a solid white panel, and on the light version it is outlined instead, because a white box on white paper is not a box.

Printing and framing

Export at A4 through to A0, at up to 300 DPI, as PNG, JPG, PDF or SVG. A3 suits a desk or a shelf; A2 is the usual size for a framed print on a wall. The PDF and SVG are vector for the type and the hearts, so the names and dates stay crisp at any size.

If you are sending it to a print shop, ask whether they want bleed. The export panel can add it, and a poster printed edge to edge on a dark ground is exactly the case where a missing bleed shows as a white hairline.

Common questions

Is this anniversary poster really free?

Yes. There is no account, no payment, no export limit and no watermark on the finished file.

Do my photographs get uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor runs entirely in your browser. The pictures you choose are read on this device, drawn straight onto the poster and never sent to a server. Closing the tab is the only deletion needed.

How many photos does the heart hold?

Eighteen. One large box in the centre and seventeen around it. You can fill as few as you like; an empty box is part of the design rather than a gap, so a poster with three photographs still reads as a heart.

Can I move a photo into the big centre box?

Yes. Click the box holding it on the preview, then choose where it should go. The two pictures trade places and each keeps the framing you gave it.

Does the calendar show the real month?

Yes, and that is the point. Pick a month and a year and the grid is calculated: the right weekday to start on, the right number of days, and four, five or six rows as that month actually needs. Your date is marked with a heart on the correct square.

What is the code strip for?

It is an image you upload, usually a scan code for a song that means something to the two of you. Save the code from wherever you got it and add it like any other picture. Nothing is fetched for you, because nothing here talks to another service.

What size can I print it at?

A4 up to A0, at up to 300 DPI, as PNG, JPG, PDF or SVG. A2 is a common framed size and A3 suits a desk frame.
